Curriculum Statement
The Ansdell Primary School curriculum is broad, ambitious and engaging. Our carefully planned curriculum enables every child, including those with SEND, to achieve their very best and to excel. It enables our pupils to develop personally, socially, culturally and spiritually and it teaches our children to care for each other and for their world. Our children have opportunities to participate in sport and perform in musical productions. Our curriculum is driven by our core values with a focus on STEM and exploration. Our pupils learn from a diverse range of 'Explorers' who inspire us all to aim high. This group of people includes explorers, musicians, artists, scientists, designers and sports people. Our pupils engage enthusiastically with our innovative curriculum which includes Lego Robotics and the Adventure Passport. The Adventure Passport provides outdoor adventurous opportunities for every child, every year from Reception to Year 6. Our children learn about their role as a global citizen. There are opportunities for every child to engage in community events. They learn about our local community our local heritage and our unique geography.
Curriculum Intent
Our pupils love learning, aim high and are resourceful when facing challenges. Our pupils endeavour to do their best and feel a sense of pride in their achievements. They are happy and secure. They treat others with respect and develop a sense of trust. They become empathetic, responsible citizens who care about the environment and want to make the world a better place. Our curriculum provides our children with cultural capital and the knowledge to succeed in an every changing world.

The Ansdell Adventure Passport Our Adventure Passport has been designed to teach our children a range of skills that will enable them to participate in fulfilling, enjoyable outdoor adventurous activities. Our children become confident in the outdoors and learn how to make decisions to keep themselves safe. Skills and knowledge is developed over time and our children visit stunning places across the three counties of Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cumbria. Year R - Canoe Day at Fairhaven Lake Year 1 - Adventure day at Beacon Fell Year 2 - Canoe Day at Fairhaven Lake Year 3 - Rock Climbing and Scrambling at Hutton Roof Year 4 - Mixed Water Sports Day at Fell Foot, Windermere Year 5 - Mountain Hike at Ingleborough, Yorkshire Dales Year 6 - Outdoor Adventurous Residential, Tower Wood (Autumn) followed by Ghyll Scrambling in Langdale (Summer)
