Safeguarding and Early Help
At Ansdell Primary School, we fully recognise the contribution that we can make to protect children from harm and to promote the welfare of children who are pupils at our school. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the physical, mental and emotional welfare of every pupil. We implement a whole-school, preventative approach to managing safeguarding concerns, ensuring that the wellbeing of pupils is at the forefront of all action taken. No single professional can have a full picture of a child's needs and circumstances. To ensure that children and families receive the right help and the right time, everyone who comes into contact with them has a role to play in identifying concerns, sharing information and taking prompt action.
Our school Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy can be found below:

Our school Designated Safeguarding Leads are:

Operation Encompass
Operation Encompass is a Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership which ensures that a child's school is informed, prior the the start of the next school day, that there has been a domestic abuse, vulnerable child or missing incident to which the child has been exposed and which might then have an impact on the child at school the following day. Please see the letter linked below for more information:
Early Help
Many of our children and families need help at some point with issues due to family relationships, mental health, behaviour management, disadvantage and SEND. Systems are in place to support children and families through our Early Help offer. In school, we have the following resources and interventions:
- Family Learning Mentor Support
- Lego Based Therapy
- Social Communication Skills group
- Therapy Dog
- Play Therapist
- Counselling for bereavement and loss
In addition, we work closely with Wyre & Fylde Children and Family Wellbeing Service, School Nurse, Primary Mental Health Worker and behaviour support from Stepping Stones PRU Outreach Team.
When further support is needed, families may undertake an Early Help Assessment. Through this, a range of external agencies may be engaged to support a planned package of support.
